Three Year Olds

Little Gate offers two program choices for our three year olds, all of which can be half or full day.
Aftercare is available each day from 2:45 PM - 5:30 PM.

Program choices are as follows:

  • 5 days a week
  • 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

Half-Day Program (7:50-11:45)
The children begin their day with free centers and exploration time followed by morning and or afternoon group meetings where they participate in discussion, story time, singing and more. Our children enjoy playing outside in our Little Gate Park, playground, green grass area and our Outdoor Art Studio. All children enjoy a healthy morning snack provided by the school. Carpool for half day students' begins at 11:45 and ends at 12:00. With advance notification our half-day students can take advantage of our drop-in program and stay the full day.

Full Day Program (7:50 - 3:00)
The children who stay full day will have lunch followed by an approximate 2 hour rest time in their classroom. There is a school lunch option available at an additional fee or children can bring a lunch from home. Carpool for full day students' begins at 2:45 and ends at 3:00.

Our three year olds also participate in many enrichment classes each week:

  • The children visit Ms. Rita's ART studio once a week. Here they are able to freely explore their creativity by working with various art media. They are also introduced to the different elements of art (line, shape, value, texture and color) and legendary artists such as: Vincent Van Gogh, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol and Frieda Kahlo.
  • FUN-DA-MENTALS is a living skills class taught by Ms. Paula. The focus is on socializations skills: empathy, taking turns, sharing, good sportsmanship, taking care of materials, being a leader and being a follower. The goal is to teach the children the tools necessary to work and play with others.
  • Although singing is a regular part of our day, the children also have an organized MUSIC each week. Little Gaters have fun exploring elements of music (rhythm, melody, harmony, and tone) and various musical instruments with Ms. Natalie True.
  • Our P.E. curriculum helps each child build a solid foundation in motor skills and physical fitness. Coach Dave engages the children in activities that focus on developing gross motor skills, body awareness, and coordination.
  • Our 3 year old Elephants attend SPANISH class each week with Senora Michelle. Our goal is to foster an appreciation of the oral language by introducing vocabulary and engaging the children in games songs and stories.
Aftercare In the Park (3:00-5:30)
All students are eligible to stay for aftercare on their regularly scheduled days of school. At this point in the day, aftercare is intended to be a less structured, relaxing environment where the children enjoy playing in the Little Gate Park. The children may also participate in art activities, games, outdoor play and are given an afternoon snack. If your child does not attend aftercare regularly the teachers must be informed daily by a written note if you plan to use drop-in aftercare.
