Letter from the Little Gate Director
Date Posted: September 7, 2010

Dear Parents,

September has gotten off to a great start here at the Little Gate! The children are smiling as they arrive at school each morning ready to play and explore with their friends. As you walk around campus there is laughter, singing, and a sense of wonderment wherever you go. The children are also particularly enjoying our new slide and chute in the Little Gate Park, rock boxes, as well as our outdoor art studio. Ms. Rita has equipped this new art space with places to draw, sculpt, create and imagine. Be sure to check it out!
There are a few important events during the month of September. Our annual Parents' Night was held on Tuesday, September 7th. We hope you enjoyed hearing, seeing and experiencing first-hand what your Little Gater does each day. Of course the most anticipated day will be BLACK & GOLD day on Thursday, September 9th! We will kick off the Saints season in style by wearing our team colors and second lining to our favorite tune, "Oh When the Saints go Marchin' In!" Last, for our Elephant parents, the Pre-K Admissions dinner is on Tuesday, September 21st at 6:30 pm. At this parent-only event, we will explain the steps involved in the application process and answer any questions you may have.
As part of our Reggio Emilia journey, our Little Gate Faculty will be attending a conference Friday, September 10th at the Louisiana Children's Museum.  Author Julianne Wurm will be speaking about her book, Working in the Reggio Way, which all of our faculty will read this school year.  This engaging seminar will explore establishing an educational vision, environment, time, projects, documentation and participation.  For further information you can read more on the Louisiana Children's Museum's website, www.lcm.org
Looking forward to a wonderful year,

Camille Greenberg
