Dear Parents,
Winter weather is finally upon us! The children are enjoying the change in temperature and showing off all of their winter hats, gloves, mittens and coats as they arrive to school each morning. Many classes have taken this opportunity to explore winter and the many things that come along with the change in the season. For example, some of our elephants noticed that it is now getting darker outside earlier in the day; the teachers have now begun an exploration of light and shadows in the classroom. Many morning meeting discussions are centering around things you wear in the winter, things you may eat or drink in the winter and things that you see in the winter. Windy is one thing all of our Little Gaters experience daily and they have noticed that her leaves are beginning to fall off and they are able to see her branches and decorations more easily. Be sure to ask your child about it!
The Little Gate Community Art Outreach Program is in full swing! One highlight this month was being asked to participate in the "Festival of Trees" at the Children's Museum. Our "Apple Tree" will be on display from December 3rd to the 29th. To hear a little more about the project click here to see the story from Fox 8 news. We would also like to that all of our participants for displaying our artwork and if you would like to check our hangings around the city please check littlegate.com for a current list.
There are just a few dates you many want to note for the month of December.
McGehee Holiday Book Week will run December 3rd - 8th. Little Gate Authors, Renée Hemel and Mary Beth Touzet will be signing copies of their book Fleurdelicious at 11:00 on Saturday, December 3rd and reading at 3:00 on Monday, December 5th.
There will be a Holiday Wreath auction at the Book fair on Saturday, December 3rd. There is one wreath per grade level beginning with our one year olds all the way through our twelfth graders.
Aftercare will be closing at 5:00 on Wednesday, December 14th in order for all of our staff to attend our McGehee Holiday Party. Please be sure to make arrangements to pick up your child before this time.
Friday, December 16th will be our last day of school before the break. All children will be dismissed by noon. There will be no aftercare provided. School will resume on Tuesday, January 3rd.
On behalf of myself and everyone here at the Little Gate, we wish your families the most happiest of holiday seasons.
